Listening House Included in Saint Paul & Minnesota foundation Grants

East Metro Main Street Economic Revitalization Program provides support for 42 local nonprofits

Listening House is excited and thankful to be one of 42 nonprofit organizations chosen to receive funding as part of the Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation’s East Metro Main Street Economic Revitalization Program.

For Listening House, the grant will provide important support not only as we work to complete construction of our new facility, but will also help us increase the overall reach of our services and programs to extend beyond the 4,873 guests we were able to help in 2022.

The Saint Paul & Minnesota Foundation works in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), and the Revitalization Program is designed to address economic development and redevelopment needs that have arisen in the east metro since March 15, 2020.

According to Matthew Murphy, Community Initiatives Program Manager for the Foundation, a total of $7 million in state funding, along with $2.15 million in matching funds, was awarded for projects in the Snelling-University-Rice Cultural District, the Eastside community, and along West Seventh Street.

These grants will provide funding for a diverse range of revitalization projects with budgets between $20,000 - $9 million.

All funded projects will serve Black, Indigenous, Asian, Latino, new Americans. immigrants, refugees, LGBTQI communities, low-income communities, or historically under-invested or dis-invested communities. Furthermore, more than 85% of the projects are owned or led by people of color.

Look for updates soon on the progress of our new building construction, and on how we’re working to optimize this new support. Find additional details on the Minnesota Main Street Revitalization Program on the DEED website.
