Make a Gift
Over 50% of annual revenue is provided through individual giving and sponsorship of funding events. This level of generosity allowed Listening House to extend hours and increase the level of services as the need arose. To say staff could not do what we do without donors is an understatement.

Include Listening House In Your Will
Making a gift in your will, known as a bequest, is a simple way to support the future of Listening House. A gift in your estate helps meet the needs of our guests who count on Listening House to be a refuge from the streets and the elements. Additionally, planned giving arrangements can also help you meet your financial goals by reducing your federal estate taxes. Your gift may take the form of a specific dollar amount or a percentage of your overall estate. Suggested bequest language: “I give and bequeath to Listening House of St. Paul, a not-for-profit, tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, located in St. Paul, Minnesota, % of my estate (or the sum of $ dollars).”
Any questions can be answered by Cheryl Peterson, Executive Director of Listening House. Please contact her at 651-227-5911 or email: cheryl@listeninghouse.org
Thank you again for your generosity!
Donor Privacy Policy
Board Approval February 2014
Listening House maintains the highest level of respect for the privacy of donors. Our donor privacy policy guides staff and volunteers on how they may and may not use personal donor information to honor the rights of contributors.
Listening House collects and uses personal information from donors that includes: name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, and donor comments when a donor voluntarily provides it to us. In addition, Listening House keeps a record of each donor’s giving history. This information is kept on file for IRS purposes and is also used in our development process to analyze overall giving patterns as a way to make accurate budget projections. Listening House does not sell, trade, rent or share names, addresses, e-mail contact or telephone numbers of our donors. Donor contact information is used only for the following purposes:
• To prepare donation receipts
• To thank donors
• To inform donors about news, events, or other Listening House activities
• To perform internal analysis and/or maintain record keeping
• To prepare reports for relevant federal or state agencies (these reports are not for public inspection)
• To contact donors about changes to this policy
We will discontinue contacting any person upon that person’s oral or written request. We maintain a record of all requests to be removed from further contact. Once a request has been received instructing no further contact, your mailing address, email address and phone number are removed from our database. If you contact us after that and you desire a reply, please include a call back or email as we will have removed your contact info from our database. We will not remove you from our do not contact list unless expressly instructed.
As a rule, Listening House publicly recognizes a donor by publishing a donor’s name unless the donor explicitly requests anonymity when making a donation by mail or online.
